Latvia offers a temporary residence permit to investors, starting from a €50,000 investment in a Latvian company. It is a low-cost way to gain visa-free travel across the Schengen Area.
A new Immigration Law took effect on 15 September 2026. Property and bank capital investments no longer qualify for new applicants, the government bond route closed in May 2026, and a new investment fund route has been announced.
Share capital of a Latvian company: €50,000 in a smaller company or €100,000 in a larger one, plus a €10,000 state fee. The company must pay at least €40,000 a year in taxes (€100,000 for the larger tier). The permit is issued for two years at a time.
A new route through a state-approved investment fund, held for five years, plus a €10,000 state fee. The fund had not yet been set up when this page was reviewed, so this route is not open yet.
